Why I Became a Menopause Fitness Coach
I started teaching Pilates when I was in my early 20s so back then most of my female clients were older than me.
Many of the women I trained were strong, smart, and fabulous women in their 40s and 50s who were committed to exercise and maintaining a healthy diet but were frustrated that the work wasn’t paying off. There was bloating and weight gain. Joint and back pain. Moodiness and fatigue. As a fit young dancer - I thought I had all the answers. I would tell them to eat most of their calories in the morning, add in more cardio, go to bed earlier or just do more pilates (that worked for me!)
The response was always : “You are young . Those things used to work. Just you wait.”
Well I think that time has arrived - at 48 years old I am definitely not in the same body I was in 20 years ago- not even 5 years ago. My energy level is down, I can hardly sleep through the night, and my stamina to get through a workout has dropped significantly. I used to be a person who was always cold and now I am always HOT. The slightest worry can turn into a full blown panic attack.
I am currently in perimenopause with menopause not too far off. As someone who works with women in midlife and beyond I am committed to providing support and information to help my clients during this transition . I pursued additional education and training and earned a certification as a Menopause Fitness Coach. Knowledge is power and I am excited to share information with you.
