A Day in the Life of a Pilates Apprentice

What does an O.R. Nurse, a marketing consultant and a professional ballerina have in common? They are all currently pursuing their Real Pilates Teacher Training Certification at The Pilates Project .

Nowadays there are so many ways to get a Pilates certification — weekend and online courses don’t require much time or offer hands on experience and since there are no state required licenses for teaching Pilates, these quicker options can be appealing to some people.

Anyone enrolled in the Real Pilates Teacher Training Program have chosen NOT to take the easy way out. Real Pilates Comprehensive Program is intense- 30 weeks long and requires 600 hours to complete. The program includes 18 hour seminar weekends, 150 observation hours, 150 student teaching hours, self practice, anatomy homework, and several exams. The result of all that hard work is a competent, passionate instructor who knows how to safely challenge clients of all fitness levels.

A Typical Day of a Pilates Project Apprentice

Our apprentices are required to be in the studio 18-20 hours a week.

On a typical day- an apprentice will come into the and work out on their own. Then, they may teach a few clients and observe private sessions being taught by a more experienced instructor. They are required to keep an observation notebook so they know what to look for. Twice a week they take private and semi private sessions with a lead instructor. Apprentices are typically in the best physical shape of their life when they go through the program 😅.

“Everyone is so helpful and supportive of one another and I think this what helps us all to stay motivated and continue on our journey to be skilled and dedicated teachers.”- Lori P. (RPTT Apprentice)
